ONE WAY OR ANOTHER

FILM SHORT

One Way or Another

On a quiet night in a roadside bar, egos and alcohol ignite—sending two friends toward a violent showdown that could change both their lives forever.
Based on true events.

One Way or Another is a project born from love and pain.

It’s based on a night my father lived through in the late sixties. Dad was a storyteller, and he had plenty of wild stories to tell. After he died suddenly of a heart attack in 2016, I decided to tell one of those stories in my own way.

I wrote the film while in a wheelchair, recovering from serious injuries I sustained when I crashed his motorcycle the day after his funeral.

We shot the film entirely in western Washington, just outside Seattle. But I wanted it to look and feel as though it could have taken place in any one of the thousands of watering holes along the highways of middle America.

The story explores the human dynamics of those places… tribalism, social structure, and class identity… with a healthy (or perhaps not-so-healthy) dose of alcoholism, violence, and toxic masculinity mixed in.
