THE STORY BEHIND THE VIDEO

About 20 years ago, my wife and I got invited to Pateros, WA. A sleepy little river town in the center of the state, Pateros is perched on the edge of the Columbia just north of the Wells Dam. The huge bend in the river there makes for an interesting piece of water that has natural windbreaks all around it. So no matter where the weather might be coming from, you can always find a friendly stretch of glass.

When we started going, it was a massive end-of-summer gathering with tons of boats, tons of people, and a serious party atmosphere. Now, all these years later, the trip has become a little more personal. We have kids. Our friends have kids. And all those kids… are taking over.

I know this isn’t the typical work you’ll find on an editor’s portfolio page. But my friends and family are important to me. They’re an essential part of who I am. Maybe the most essential part. And I like showing them off.
